Fireplace Filler

So, what did you do today? Not much here, just decided to fill my fireplace with books.

Warning: do not use for fire.

Grand plan!! This will keep our cats from taking a wee wee in there in the summer.

I don't know what I love more, books or what you did with them here! Genius. Books are such a great decorating tool.

I thought you could do no wrong, but for the first time, I'm going to have to pass on this one.
Then again...I've been longing to put FIREWOOD in the BOOKSHELVES adjacent to our fireplace. So what the hell do I know?

Love your blog, but I strongly dislike this idea which I've seen floating around the interwebs. Books in the fireplace give me such a Fahrenheit 451 vibe. I think the best (arguably) only item to put in a non-working fireplace is candles... lots and lots of pretty candles.
