Your Wednesday Headless Photo

Happy New Year! It's 2013, a year of big changes for us, what with upcoming high school graduations and whatnot. The party is over, and I for one couldn't be more excited to get back to work.

I love Maggie's list of simple resolutions, particularly "own less crap" and "eat more dim sum." Mine are:

1. Take more photos.

2. Write more thoughtfully.

3. Drink less coffee.

4. Become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.*

5. Live in a place that has dim sum.

What are y'all's simple resolutions? Let me hear them, because I'll probably steal them if they're good.

*Just kidding. You know I want to be a Saintsation.

Write. 15 minutes a day. Not blog posts.

Vancouver has the best dim sum this side of Hong Kong (sorry San Francisco!). Come Vancouver Camp 2013 (woot!) I'll tell you where all the good places are.

I imagine that bracelet says DANCE, but at first I thought it said DANG. And oh boy, did I immediately want it.

January 2, 2013 | Unregistered Commentertoni
I also thought the bracelet said DANG and I was all over that.

Who knew there was a market for DANG bracelets?

this year I vowed to 'buy less stuff, spend more time' - so along with buying less crap, spend that money on experiences, or saving for experiences (travel, event tickets, MEMORIES)

I resolve to have more people toss confetti when I'm having my picture took! Happy New Year!

LOVE the boots. Spill it. ;)

Just went through what I did/accomplished last year and what I want to continue to do and do more of:

1) start cooking regularly again
2) start transcendental mediation
3) be a tourist in my city and visit the secrets
4) entertain more
5) organize/redo my home office which didn't get done last year

I wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader when i was 8 years old. also a Rockette. and a doctor.

1) Make the bed every day.
2) Finish a book at least every two weeks.
3) No more laptops in bed.
4) Eat one green vegetable every day.

+1 on the DANG bracelet. Might need to crosstitch that mofo.

1. We are beginning production on a "DANG" bracelet immediately. I know people in China.
2. Boots info: http://www.abchao.com/blog/2012/8/10/tell-me-about-them-boots-episode-1.html
3. More resolutions, pls.

I resolve to spend more time in the South. I resolve to kill the passive voice. Hate the passive voice.

Waaaant the DANG bracelet too, that just cracked me up. I'm resolving to capture one moment of joy per day via photo (I'm talking just snapping with my phone). I did it for 2010 & 2011, flunked out for 2012 and noticed a HUGE difference in my mood (i.e. It plummeted). So, back at it!

Dude. I can't believe I am just now jumping on the DANG bracelet bandwagon. Stupid work. And sleep. Anywho, yes please!
And because I don't like to overwhelm myself, I only have two resolutions for 2013;
1) Sit up straight! I can think of approximately three thousand things I'd like more than the dowager's hump I'm working on.
2) Be more mindful. Take more time and consideration with the people and experiences in my life. Stop running huge chunks of my day on "auto pilot."

Attend an AB Chao design camp would be on there but 2013 funds are tight (read: no non-family travel) and you are not coming to Nashville. What is up with that?! ;)
January 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLaura

2. Fix all the little issues around the house.
3. Learn to roast a chicken.
January 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarrie

And borrowing from your smart readers:

5. Wear jewelry

More fire in 2013: campfires, fireplace fires, candlelit dinners and candlelit baths. And more abstractly speaking, pursue my endeavors with passion, commitment, and fire.

Happy 2013, AB, readers, and campers!

Less vices, more virtues.

Cynthia -- I LOVE that. You've inspired me to have more LIGHT in 2013 - twinkly, candles, cozy lamp glow, and sunshine pouring through the windows. Abstractly speaking - lightening my load, lightening up (physically and mentally), and being of service by offering love and light to all. Thank you!!!
January 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara
Dear AB, those were my genuine resolutions! Your blog is of course exempt from the moratorium on Internet time suckage. (I only just now realised they might've appeared as directives to anyone other than myself? Ick)
January 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPatriciaF
I so badly need a DANG bracelet.
January 3, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterALH

Learn to use the sewing machine my mother-in-law gave me for Christmas a year ago. If I could just figure out if it is a top or front loading bobbin, I might be in business.
